North Ogden City recently dedicated an updated trailhead near the Big Rock / Gravel Pit Trailhead. About 20 people showed up for the event, including Blake Cevering and Jay D Dapais, two members of the North Ogden City Council. In addition to paving the current trailhead parking lot, an additional parking area just south of the area was paved and added. The original lot is part of a road easement that has been set aside for the road going up the canyon to Private Property and the city was not able to expand there, which is why the second lot was added. To accommodate the second lot, TFNU & the City of North Ogden worked together and decided to move the existing Trail Kiosk to the new lot and North Ogden City has agreed to get it moved as soon as possible.

The new trailhead has about 40 paved parking spaces and a two room flushing toilet restroom. This is a wonderful addition to this area, especially as the traffic increases each year when the flag (The Major) is hung in Coldwater Canyon.
