September Board Member of the Month

Board Member of the Month: Mike McConvill

We are excited to spotlight Jeff as our Member of the Month! Mike has been a TFNU Board member for the past five years, and his story is a wonderful reminder of why trails matter.

What inspired you to become a board member of TFNU, and how have the trails and our community influenced your decision to take on this role?

After retiring and moving back to Ogden (where I grew up), I wanted to give back to the community in a way that impacted the quality of life here - specifically in regard to experiencing all of the trails and mountain areas I've spent so much time on.

Can you share about your background and personal story, including your experiences and favorite moments on the trails or in the outdoors? How have those experiences shaped your work on the board?

I grew up on the east bench near Taylor canyon and spent much of my youth hiking and learning to climb there.  Learned to love the area through hiking, climbing, skiing, bike riding all over the area. Have always been involved in recreation throughout Utah with a 20 year career with Utah State Parks to include time at Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Dead Horse Point, and East Canyon.  Many years ski teaching and racing and was on the local organizing committee for the 2002 Olympic events at Snowbasin.  I'm enjoying my time on the TFNU Board and am very excited about all that is happening with TFNU!

How long have you been part of the board?
