The Trail Crew position is focused on building and maintaining multi-use trails for the Trails Foundation of Northern Utah (TFNU) in and around Weber County.
Job Title: Trail Crew
Job Location: Weber County, Utah
Position Type: 30-40 hours per week; Seasonal from April – end of September (approx.) Wage: $21-$26 per hour, DOE
The Trail Crew reports directly to the Executive Director. Duties shall include but are not limited to: Job Description:
● Assist in planning work for the season.
● Ensure machinery is maintained and working properly.
● Ability to perform a wide variety of heavy manual labor duties for extended periods of time, and often under adverse weather conditions and in various climates.
● Ability to carry tools and equipment from vehicle parking areas to work areas which could be up to a mile away.
● Ability to adapt to the surrounding work environment and conditions that can change frequently.
● Work on design, engineering, and construction of future trails and pathways.
● Must enforce the use of appropriate safety procedures in all tasks.
● Previous trail building or maintenance experience preferred.
● Oversee large volunteer work opportunities.
● Must provide own transportation to work location.
● Must provide own work boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
● Hand tools will be provided.
Professional Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to pass employment background check.
• Understanding of trail building and maintenance.
• GiS knowledge helpful.
• Mini-Ex and large equipment experience preferred.
• Proficient in using manual and power tools.
• Ability to assist in large volunteer events.
• Physically agile and dexterous.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
• Detail orientated and aptitude to problem solve.
• Well-organized, self-motivated, and proactive.
• Skills to collaborate with staff, board members, volunteers, and partners.
• Ability to work independently.
